Nestlé earns 4 billion euros from online sales

VEVEY - Nestlé has always been a frontrunner with online sales. The first Nespresso site was launched in 1996 and the company has already sold its products on the World Wide Web since 1998. The company was one of the first big names in the food industry to make online steps, and has proven their digital strategies have paid of with an impressive 4 billion euros in online sales; approx. 5% of its net turnover.
Nestlé started its Digital Acceleration Team (DAT) in 2012. This team carefully guards Nestlé’s social media channels and has since been extended worldwide. For Nestlé one of the key factors is customer interaction. This means that when the Digital Acceleration Team spots an unsatisfied customer, they quickly jump to action and take steps to ensure customer satisfaction. For example: by contacting a local Nespresso store to get the issue resolved.
Nestlé is the largest food manufacturer in the world. The head office is located in Vevey, Switzerland Nestlé produces a wide range of products, including (instant) coffee, bottled water, soups, ice-cream, (chocolate) milk, chocolate, pasta, yogurt, breakfast cereals, milk derivative (for example: milk powders) and baby formula.
In 2010 Nestlé ranked as the most profitable corporation in the world, according to the Fortune Global 500. The company currently employs over 340.000 people.
